Gardai say they are actively reviewing the safety of some TDs after online threats were made against them.
The Journal reports that officers have visited the homes of some well known anti government figures to check out the viability of the threats.
The Department of Justice confirmed that security arrangements given to ministers and other people during the pandemic remain "under constant review".
