Gardai in Sligo-Leitrim recorded a 68% decrease in the number of drink driving offences detected in the second quarter of this year compared to 2019.
Burglary and related offences dropped by 50% in the region according to new statistics compiled by the CSO.
These figures show the impact the Covid lockdown had on crime in the Shannonside region from its introduction on March 27th to mid-summer.
In quarter two 2020, just 14 drink driving detections were recorded by gardaí in the north-west division of Sligo-Leitrim - compared to 44 in the same period last year.
Burglary and related offences dropped from 61 to 30 in quarter two - with a 36% drop in theft offences.
However there was a significant increase in controlled drug offences - rising from 60 last year to 129 in quarter two of this year.
15 incidents of arson were also reported in quarter two - and with the closure of pubs - public order offences also decreased in Sligo-Leitrim by 41%.
In Roscommon-Longford, one murder offence was recorded in the quarter two figures and one incident of dangerous driving causing death.
Rape and sexual assaults halved from 14 to seven year on year - while one incident of blackmail or extortion was also notified to Gardai.
Public order and criminal damage offences were also fewer than previously reported.
