Gardai want people who saw tragic Roscommon couple in last few days to contact them

Gardai are are appealing for the publics help as they try to establish what caused the blaze at a house in Gurth south Roscommon in the early hours of this morning where a middle aged couple died

Forensic investigators remain at the scene of a double fire tragedy in south Roscommon this afternoon .

 

The bodies of a man and a woman have been removed from a house in Gurth, Moore, for a post mortem examination at Galway University Hospital.

Smoke is still emerging from the top floor of house in south Roscommon where two people lost their lives in an overnight fire.

Emergency services were called to the blaze, which has completely destroyed the roof of the dormer bungalow, just after 2am.

 

A man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s were discovered by fire personnell and pronounced dead at the scene.

Their bodies were removed from the scene this afternoon and Gardai have confirmed that the results of post mortems, to take place at Galway University Hospital, will determine the course of their investigations as well as the technical examination.

The state pathologist Margaret Bolster has been informed and Gardai at Clonark Garda station are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area last night, or seen the couple in the last number of days to contact them at 0906437102.
