Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.

The incident took place on the Dublin road close to a local national school in the town just after 9am.

No one was injured in the incident and the adjacent property was undamaged.

Those in the areas affected by the spate of burglaries have been expressing their anger at the rising crime levels.

Emergency services attended the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober near Balla shortly before 11pm.

A car and a Jeep crashed on the N4 at Ardcarne at around 1.20pm. 

Gardaí in Longford are investigating a number of incidents where fake notes were tendered to businesses over the last number of days.

Gardaí are treating the fire as accidental and are not investigating the issue.
