The posters of a number of general election candidates in Longford and Westmeath have been destroyed or damaged in what's being branded as 'inventive vandalism'. Posters belonging to Independent Gerry Warnock and Labour's Fidelma Bennet were destroyed, with the faces of both candidates overlaid on a Sinn Fein Poster.
The poster on the Athlone road in Longford Town featured Sorca Clarke and Barry Campion, before the new faces were attached. Speaking to Shannonside FM today, Gerry Warnock says that such actions may be considered funny by some, but can have a major impact on Independent candidates:
