A Leitrim family has vowed to continue their fight to oppose plans by the County Council which could see them lose their home and business.
The local authority agreed at its September meeting to discuss in future any plans which would see a home or company acquired as part of local authority plans.
Over 9,000 signatures have been added to a petition by the Geraghty family who have expressed deep concern over plans for a 'destination centre' planned for Main Street in the town.
Under the concept, the attraction would currently occupy the Geraghty family home and business.
Council CE Lar Power admitted that there had been a misunderstanding with the Geraghty family and that it is the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal district that will ultimately decide if the project goes ahead.
