A Go Fund Me campaign launched to help a Leitrim teenager access life changing surgery has doubled its original target in less than a week.
13 year old Rachel Mallon from Bornacoola was diagnosed with adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis earlier this year.
Due to the severity of her condition, a new surgery available in the UK is her only chance of being able to move her back after treatment for the rest of her life.
A go fund me campaign launched by her parents Brian and Edel originally sought to raise €30,000 to bridge the cost of the procedure after they raised the majority of the cost themselves.
The fund now stands at almost €60,000, with more donations being made each day.
