The Government is considering advice to scrap the 14 day quarantine period for people arriving into the country.

The taskforce has recommended that the travel restrictions and 14 day quarantine rule be scrapped by next Wednesday.

The Irish Tourism Industry Confederation's Eoghan O'Mara Walsh says the rules are effectively a "closed" sign to tourists.

The taskforce is made up of representatives from airlines, airports, aircraft leasing companies and the tourism sector.

Immunologist Professor Kingston Mills is concerned about the lack of medical input.

Professor Mills thinks "air bridges" with other countries is a better approach but Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson disagrees.

The National Public Health Emergency team will consider the recommendations tomorrow.
