Longford/Westmeath Deputy Sorcha Clarke says Media Minister Catherine Martin should use her powers to send an authorised officer into RTE to get answers on issues surrounding the Tubridy payments controversy.
Deputy Clarke says that the two Oireachtas Committee hearings this week with senior RTE executives have failed to get answers to several outstanding questions about governance and transparency at the state broadcaster.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning the Sinn Fein TD says Minister Catherine Martin has the power to send an approved person into RTE to carry out a review of policies and bring that information back to the Dail.
'The minister has an option here to go in under existing legislation, with Pearse Doherty calling for this during the week in the Dail.
It is something I think at this point in time we are at this point for that to happen.
We have heard 9 hours of committee engagement with more questions than answers at the end of it. There is the option to continue as in and put in another review but we should send in the authorized officer.'
