A government senator is expressing concern at the number of burglaries happening in Co Roscommon, after two more incidents in broad daylight yesterday.
There was a burglary and an attempted break-in in two houses on the outskirts of Strokestown between 1pm and 3pm.
A small amount of cash was taken in the burglary, while the second property was occupied at the time and the thieves fled the scene.
Gardai are analysing CCTV and are appealing to anyone who noticed anything suspicious to contact them.
A Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a report of an attempted burglary at a house in the Strokestown area shortly after 3 pm on Friday.
"The alarm was raised by the homeowner after two males were disturbed trespassing on the property.
"Both fled the scene empty-handed.
"Additionally, gardaí are investigating a burglary at another house in Strokestown that occurred on the same afternoon.
"The house was unoccupied at the time of the incident."
Fianna Fáil senator Eugene Murphy is concerned about how often these incidents are happening.
