Government to appoint 23 new Junior Ministers in the coming weeks

Three new Junior Ministerial positions are to be created under the new Government.

The roles include an extra Super Junior Ministry.

It brings the total number of Ministers of State to 23 - with the Government arguing the increase is needed to deal with additional workload.

The decision on who will fill out the Minister of State positions won't be released until the week after the top table is filled when the Dail returns next Wednesday.

Shannonside FM news Potlitcal Analyst Patrick Donohoe believes new Roscommon Galway TD Martin Daly is in with a good shot at a role in the department of health.

When it comes to Longford Westmeath, Patrick says its unlikely that the constituency will get a third minister after Peter Burke and Kevin Boxer Moran.
