Government to consider extra fuel allowance payment

The government's considering plans to give households an additional three week 'lump sum' payment of the fuel allowance to help with rising costs.

It's among the measures that were discussed by coalition leaders at a meeting yesterday evening.

VAT on energy could also be reduced temporarily from 13.5 to 9 percent - it would be worth around €100 per year.
