Government told to urgently increase HAP limits in Leitrim

The government is being urged to increase state-subsidies for tenants in Leitrim as a matter of urgency.

Sinn Féin councillor Roisin Kenny says the rates for the Housing Assistance Payment are far too low for average renters.

The rates are paid by the Department of Social Welfare and, in Leitrim, they range from 200 euro to 500 euro a month.

But Councillor Kenny is calling for them to be increased significantly.
