There are hopes that the government might consider purchasing one of the country's most historic hotels.
An auction is taking place later this month to sell the Greville Arms in Granard for a guide price of €250,000.
The hotel was formerly owned by the family of Kitty Kiernan, who famously first met Michael Collins there in May 1917.
There has been hopes locally that the building might be bought by the government to turn into a museum which could be associated with the forthcoming Norman village attraction planned for the area.
