A well known Roscommon town service station has received the go ahead for a major expansion.
Casey's Auto Centre at Ballypheasan on the Circular and Athlone Roads has been granted planning permission for significant works.
The business had previously been granted permission for a similar development in 2016, with an amended plan submitted to Roscommon County Planners earlier this year.
The application seeks the phased construction of 2 extensions to the building which would incorporate a new restaurant, seating and back of house areas.
Also included in the development would be new vehicular and pedestrian movement arrangements and the provision of 131 car parking spaces, 5 bus parking spaces and 8 HGV parking spaces.
The work on the site would see the demolition of the existing shed and the construction of storage yard with 4 new sheds, 3 new HGV fuel pumps, ventstack, fill points and 2 above ground fuel tanks.
Retention of planning permission was also successfully sought for the construction of 2 fuel filling points and the provision of a diesel generator and car service bay.
Roscommon County Council approved the application with 21 conditions attached.
These include a provision that the developer must pay close to €65,000 to Roscommon County Council for works including road maintenance.
Another includes a ruling that the planning permission does not include the construction of a car wash.
