The Green Party will hold its annual convention in Athlone this weekend.
The event which will be held at Radisson Blu Hotel in the town over three days will discuss how to build sustainable communities in towns as well as climate change and reforming childcare.
Ministers, TDs, Senators, Councillors and party members will all be in attendance with voting for a new executive committee also taking place.
Athlone Councillor Louise Heavin says she's looking forward to welcoming colleagues to the region and showing off what the town has to offer.
The green party representative says issues concerns the public must also be addressed over the weekend.
"It's important, also, that our ministers our listening to what people say and we have a number of local speakers at this as well, and their will be Q & A parts to our sessions. So it is an important point that we have to listen to what's actually happening for people. So I am excited to have them down to show-off what a great town it is that we have and also to bring the Green message home, so to speak".
