A major parcel delivery company has gotten the green light for further renewable and carbon friendly infrastructure at their Athlone HQ
Interlink Ireland have received permission from Westmeath County Council for the installation of solar panels at their headquarters in the Athlone Business Park.
The Dublin Road facility will see over 1,200 square metres of photovoltaic panels added to the roof.
The application was approved by Westmeath County planners with just two conditions attached.
Interlink Ireland trading as DPD last week announced plans to run all trucks and delivery vans on Hydro treated Vegetable Oil.
The company says while the fuel is currently more expensive than diesel, it will reduce its carbon emissions by over 80%.
