An Athlone Childcare Centre says a reduction in the amount of time that a boosted 'close contact' has to isolate would be a big help to them.
Groveland's Childcare has six early learning and care services operating in Athlone, Mullingar and Tullamore and they've had to close a centre in Athlone this week due to a Covid outbreak.
Director of Operations with the group Deirdre Bushell says they are shocked at how transmissible the new variant is despite their very high level of health and safety precautions.
It's the first time since the pandemic began that they've had to close a unit.
Speaking on the Lets Talk show today Deirdre Bushell says staffing is still a major issue for childcare services also.
She says a shortening of the isolation period for people who've been boosted, or who have had Covid recently, would be a significant help.
