A local TD has joined her Rural colleagues in calling for the VAT rate to be lowered to 5 per cent for hospitality businesses outside of Dublin.
It’s one element of a Dáil motion from the Rural Independent group, proposing more supports for the struggling sector.
The government says it’s not opposed to the motion, but all tax measures are subject to Budgetary consideration and EU regulations.
