President Michael D Higgins has paid tribute to Michael Gambon who has died aged 82.
The Dubliner passed away in hospital and the President has described him as an "exceptional talent" which leaves a compelling legacy.
The actor is best known for his portrayal of Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies, following the death of fellow Irishman Richard Harris.
