Leitrim County Council hopes to lodge planning permission for the long-awaited Hartley bridge project before the end of the month.
The March meeting of the Carrick-on-Shannon municipal district was told that the application will be made directly to An Bord Pleanala and it could take several months for the project to be assessed by inspectors.
A number of special reports have been prepared, such as Natura impact assessments, in order to progress the planning application for the bridge which links Roscommon and Leitrim.
