The coach and transport sector must be able to qualify for same supports as haulage according to a local operator.
Aidan Geraghty from Geraghty Coaches says the coach industry is suffering massively from the current energy and cost of living crisis.
He's warning local companies will be forced to drop local transport and school routes if not helped.
Haulage companies can currently reclaim VAT of Diesel, labour and parts.
Speaking to Shannonside FM, Aidan Geraghty says that his companies and those like it throughout the country are in vital need of these measures:
"The haulage sector can reclaim the VAT on their diesel, on parts, and on labour whereas the coach sector can't. Taxes have increased already with no real supports. You have government agencies throwing money at things but it's all higgeldy piggeldy. It's two or three agencies trying to do the same thing".
