The head of a Shannonside cancer support centre fears that there will be an unprecedented number of people requiring its services post Covid 19.
While hospitals such as Portiuncula have continued to provide cancer treatments, many people are waiting with genuine anguish for cancer screening to resume at the end of July.
The East Galway and Midlands Cancer Support Centre in Ballinasloe, which receives no state support sees over 220 patients a week, its services have continued remotely throughout the crisis.
Manager Jacqueline Daly says she cannot imagine how busy they will be when the screening resumes and more cancers are detected.
