There’s been widespread anger across the European Union after Astrazeneca revealed an unexpected delay in delivering millions of doses of its vaccine to Europe.
It’s long been heralded as the gamechanger in the fight against covid as it doesn’t have to be stored at ultra-cold temperatures.
The Health Minister says he’s disappointed but talks are continuing with AsrtaZeneca to get as much of the vaccine as we can, as soon as we can.
Stephen Donnelly says the European Medicines Agency is due to decide on its authorization on Friday.
It comes as Astrazeneca strongly rejects a German newspaper’s claim about low-efficiency rates of its vaccine in the over 65s saying the reports are ‘completely incorrect.’
Meanwhile back home the Health Minister had pledged to give the public daily updates on the vaccine rollout by yesterday on the Government’s data hub.
But the figures available are only up until Sunday.
