Health Minister says private school shouldn't have been given left over vaccines

Controversy has arisen again over the distribution of left over vaccines following the revelation that the Beacon Hospital gave left over doses to 20 teachers and staff at a private school in Wicklow

The Health Minister says no private school should have received vaccines from a private hospital.

Stephen Donnelly was responding the Beacon Hospital's decision to give left over vaccines to 20 teachers and staff from St Gerard's Catholic School in Wicklow on Tuesday.

The hospital says the decision was made as the private school staff were able to attend the hospital in a very short space of time.

It's apologised for distributing vaccines outside the HSE's sequencing guidelines.

The HSE's Dr Colm Henry says the priority list must be adhered to.
