A HIQA report has praised the care provided to residents of a Roscommon based nursing home.
An unannounced inspection was carried out at Shannon Lodge Nursing home earlier this year.
Shannon Lodge Nursing Home is a purpose-built bungalow-style facility located in the village of Rooskey, Co. Roscommon.
Inspectors noted that the centre was warm, homely and well furnished throughout and that staff were described as being caring, gentle and respectful by residents.
Items of traditional memorabilia that were familiar to residents were displayed throughout the centre to encourage reminiscence and conversation, such as antique style crockery, cameras and televisions.
The inspector also found that visits by residents' families and friends were encouraged and practical precautions were in place to manage any associated risks.
The centre was found to be either compliant or substantially compliant in all inspection areas with some minor improvements in areas such as staff training and infection control noted.
In it's response contained in the report, Shannon Lodge has outlined that systems have been put in place to address the small issues found.
