Hiqa have published a report following an inspection at an International Protection Accommodation Service Centre in the Shannonside region.

The inspection was carried out earlier this year over two days in July.

The inspection carried out by the Health Information and Quality Authority focused on the Carraig Accommodation Centre in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim.

The IPAS centre currently houses 104 people across 25 apartments.

The health watchdog found the centre to be compliant or partially compliant in all but one standard.

In the standard where the centre found to be non- compliant, it was stated in the report that there was no reception officer employed in the centre at the time of the inspection.

However, they did go on to say that they were in the process of recruiting a reception officer.

HIQA stated in the report that residents living in the centre were provided with good quality accommodation and received supports in line with their identified needs.

They also said that the service provider had put a management team in place which was committed to providing a good quality and person-centred service.
