The group tasked with examining a devastating landslide in north Leitrim had called for a multi agency approach to helping people affected.
The working group, led by the Heritage Department, is overseeing the response to the Shaas Mountain landslide at Drumkeeran which occurred at the end of June and held a meeting near the site earlier today.
Today's meeting was chaired by the Minister for Heritage Malcolm Noonan and involved representatives from Leitrim County Council as well as the Department of Agriculture, Inland Fisheries Ireland, and the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
All agencies committed to finding a multi agency response to address the emergency situation, including the farmer and community needs and also to investigate solutions to the longer term stabilisation challenges now evident.
The Junior Minister has also resolved with the Minister for Agriculture to quickly establish this committee and put together a multi-agency grouping to oversee the response to the emergency and said there was much work to be done and the committee would meet again in the very near future.
