A Longford businesswoman is being hailed as a hero, following her quick actions in saving the life of a baby girl last week.
Freda Farrel, who runs the Westhouse café and B&B on the Strokestown Road in Longford resuscitated a one month old baby girl at her property on Monday the 1st of February.
The parents, who are staying in the accommodation long-term, raised the alarm when they realised their daughter was not breathing and her colour was changing.
Freda, who is a former care worker in St. Joseph's Hospital in Longford, took the child from the father and immediately began to perform infant CPR.
The baby girl was resuscitated minutes later and taken to hospital where it's understood she's recovering well.
The cafe and B&B owner has highlighted the importance of everyone having a basic understanding of first aid and CPR.
