High Court hearing for Longford Fire accused postponed until next week

The Chinese national is accused of setting a fire at Oyama Sushi, a business run by the brother of the accused's former business partner on the 28th of July.

The High Court Bail hearing for the man accused of setting a fire in Longford that caused over 3 million euro in damage has been postponed. Guo Zhong Chen of 9 Belvedere Terrace, Mullingar is charged with arson in relation to the Grafton Court Fire in Longford Town on the 28th of July. The Chinese national is accused of setting a fire at Oyama Sushi, a business run by the brother of the accused's former business partner on the 28th of July.

He was refused bail at a special sitting of Longford District Court last month and has been remanded in custody at Castlerea Prison since. Guo Zhong Chen was due to appear at Cloverhill Courthouse in Dublin today where his legal team were to make the application for High Court Bail. Due to priority cases heard across the morning, Mr Zhong Chen's case was unable to be heard, with Justice Tony Hunt adjourning the bail list until Thursday September 12th.
