Roscommon County Council was forced to halt works on an underground pipeline designed to drain excess water from the lake at the end of Summer.

Elan was bought by Perrigo in 2013.

The Council admitted yesterday that it could not continue with works to alleviate flooding in south Roscommon.

Roscommon County Council will make a statement on the decision later today.

The works had got udnerway in May but were suddenly halted earlier this month.

Residents have highlighted the urgent need to have works complete before winter flooding becomes an issue.

There's frustration and anger among farmers and residents in the south of the county following the injuction.
