Residents and their families have spoken of the positive care received at a Roscommon Nursing Home following a recent inspection.
Abbey Haven Care Centre and Nursing Home in Boyle caters for people aged 18 years and over who require long-term residential care or who require short term respite, convalescence, dementia or palliative care.
Inspectors arrived for an unannounced inspection of the facility in August, with 59 residents on site on the day.
Service users described their happiness in the centre and stated they enjoyed a good quality of life.
Staff were found to be respectful, knowledgeable and kind according to the report.
The well known care home was found to be fully compliant in 10 categories, substantiality complaint in 6 more and non compliant in two areas.
Full standards were found in the areas such as staff training, resident rights and protection.
Some issues were found in the centre's handling of complaints procedure, fire precautions and premises.
These include concerns around the storage of chairs in day and communal rooms as well as an issue with emergency evacuation drill records.
Non compliances were recorded in Infection Control and Individual assessment and care plans, with the improper storage of certain items highlighted by inspectors.
In reply to the initial report, centre management has undertaken a detailed plan of action to tackle all raised issues.
