Behavioral support issues and protection concerns have been raised at a Leitrim centre for disabilities following a recent HIQA report.
The Mount Eslin service run by Nua Healthcare Services Limited supports up to 6 adults with additional needs and underwent a short term inspection in
February.
The centre received compliant ratings in staffing, training and risk management with a substantially complaint rating in governance and
management.
Although residents reported liking their time in the centre, safeguarding concerns continued to occur, with the provider failing to demonstrate that
management had taken the compatibility of residents into account when addressing issues.
In the area of behavioral support plans , improvements were required in relation to plans which did not give sufficient guidance in regards to the implementation of a physical restrictive practices that may be needed for service users.
The service has confirmed that they are working to address the issues highlighted in the report.
