Health inspectors have raised concerns over the management of a Longford facility providing care to adults with disabilities.
HIQA claimed that improvements were required at the Oakland's supported accommodation centre, which is operated by the RehabCare Group, to ensure residents were receiving the best possible service .
This short notice inspection took place in February of this year.
Of thirteen outcomes inspected, two were found to be non-complaint - Governance and Management as well as protection against infection. Four were substantially complaint, with seven compliances noted.
Inspectors noted that the management system in place was not effective in ensuring that all practices and information were effectively monitored. Issues were identified with the upkeep and auditing of documentation relating to infection prevention and control procedures, individual assessments, risk management, and safeguarding practices.
Responding to the report, Rehab claimed a new person in charge would be hired with more frequent audits taking place and updated training being provided for staff risk assessments a for infection control were also reviewed and updated.
In a statement to Shannonside FM news, RehabCare says they have submitted a comprehensive action plan to address any issues raised in the inspection. It goes on to say that all infection prevention controls have been updated and they are continuing to follow all public health protocol and HSE guidelines in relation to Covid-19.
