Remu Adejinmi has been elected as the new Cathaoirleach of Longford Municipal District.
She was proposed this afternoon by Councillor Seamus Butler and seconded by Councillor Martin Monaghan.
She succeeds Councillor Peggy Nolan in the role and becomes the first person of colour to lead a municipal district in the county. Addressing the meeting from the chair, she said it was a dream come through for her to take up the role and she dedicated her election success to all women and migrants.
