People in the Ballinamore area are being invited to a meeting in the town next Tuesday evening with a view to beginning a 'parkrun' in the town on Saturday mornings.
Leitrim is the only county in the country not to have a 'parkrun' so far. The parkruns are free, weekly, community events and they began in Ireland in 2012 having been first established in the UK in 2004.
Saturday morning events are 5k and take place in parks and open spaces.
No formal committees need to be established for the event but people do need to commit their time to volunteering on some of the Saturday mornings.
The Ballinamore meeting will be held on Tuesday the 24th at half past seven in the Scout Den and anyone interested in seeing a 'parkrun' established in the area is invited to attend.
