It's hoped that Castlerea swimming pool will re-open for the summer season by next week.
The outdoor heated pool in the town draws hundreds of people each summer but it doesn't usually open until the end of June.
Local councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice says he hopes the pool can open in the coming days after the completion of new works at the site again this year.
The local representative says access to the facility has been an issue and big improvements are being made this year, and he hopes everyone who wants will be able to enjoy the pool this summer.
'A planned amount of works has been carried out and they're almost complete, and I'm quite confident that we can open late next week.
This is going to be great for everybody, young and old , because it's a fantastic pool , we've added an extra slide.
We're also going to add some mobility aids to the pool , like a seat for people to get into the pool , and we've also purchased pool wheelchairs for people with mobility issues, that they can use in the pool.
We're trying to be more inclusive with our pool, and I'm very hopeful it will open late next week.'
