It's hoped a monument in honour of one Roscommon's best known GAA stalwarts will be completed by autumn 2023.
Plans were officially launched on Friday evening for the Jamesie Murray memorial statue in Knockcroghery.
The iconic footballer captained All Ireland Winning teams in 1943 and 1944 and was heavily involved in community life.
The proposed statue will be made from local limestone and carved by Mark Feeley, it will be located on the village green.
While no definite date has been decided as of yet, it's hoped the memorial will be unveiled for the 80th anniversary of Roscommon's first All Ireland Win.
Tomas Murray is part of the organising he says the entire community is behind the project.
''We got great support from people around the parish community, the family are delighted you know, especially for a man who was born, lived all his life and died in Knockcroghery. So he spent 90 years in the local community and having spent all his life there it's nice to think the memorial will be there in his honour, you know, from the earth of the community, so it's very fitting.''
