There are hopes that some jobs can still be retained at the Aptar facility in Ballinasloe.
The company informed employees yesterday that a review of operations has been conducted and redundancies will be discussed with a consultation.
In documents seen by Shannonside FM news, a circular to staff indicated that, in a drive for efficiency and environmental sustainability, the company was seeking to bring operations to its base in France, highlighting that the majority of customers are on the continent, and that costs, including energy and insurance were far greater in Ballinasloe.
Local Sinn Fein Councillor Dermot Connolly says the next Minister for Business, the Department of Business and the IDA all need to focus on saving however many jobs that can be saved before September.
