The outgoing Chairman of the Roscommon Lamb Festival says he hopes some other event can be arranged to run in Roscommon town over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
Donal Mee was speaking following the news that the annual lamb festival will no longer be taking place in the town.
He says the week-long event has been run over the past decade by local volunteers but following the break due to Covid over the last two years, they've agreed it won't be possible to continue the festival.
The Roscommon Lamb Festival has bene a popular event in the county town since 2008 and the former chairman says they got good support from the local enterprise office and county council.
He says he hopes some new people can come forward with ideas that will replace the old event.
