It's hoped a significant redevelopment of public spaces in Longford Town will be completed by the beginning of March.
The Longford Connects Programmes has seen works to create a better connection between Grafton Court and the Market Square and involved the installation of new footpaths, lighting and signage, as well as street furniture and landscaping over the last 8 months.
The flagship development of the project has been the contentious works on the Town's Market Square.
Works on the Square have resulted in criticisms from several local businesses along with members of the public over issues including a loss of on street parking.
According to reports. the remainder of the project, including washing and snagging works, will be finished in February, while further footpath works in the town will extend into March.
Local Councillor Gerry Warnock says the new public amenity will show it's worth when finished:
''We have a situation here where it's really starting to take shape, the works are substantially complete and I think most will be complete or substantially complete by end of February, the Market Square element of it to be completed within the next two weeks, and I think the final element of that part is the new footpath at the corner with Earl Street and it's getting a lot of compliments around town and thankfully we'll have a product fit for purpose at the end of it.''
