It's hoped a new multi-million euro fund will transform tourism across the Shannonside region.
68 million euro has been announced for the development of climate-friendly attractions and jobs, as part of Ireland's 'Just Transition'.
It will benefit Longford, Roscommon, Westmeath and Galway amongst other midlands counties and will be allocated by Failte Ireland.
It's aimed at offsetting the long-term negative impacts of the transition from peat harvesting into green energy.
The money must be spent by the end 2026 - which means people in the midlands should feel the benefits sooner, rather than later.
Head of Ireland's Hidden Heartlands Paddy Matthews will be involved in the implementation of the local tourism and he's been explaining how the funds might be spent.
"You're working with a lot of stakeholders to decide where the funding is to go. and to design the funding schemes because some of it will be working with local authorities directly with the leader companies. Of the 68 million, just under half of it has been put aside for trail development, so cycling and walking trails, and a lot of that will be delivered through Bórd na Móna because we see a lot of opportunity on Bórd na Móna land"
