No decision has yet been made by Leitrim County Council to reopen Mohill's Main Street.
The route has been closed almost a month following structural concerns over a derelict pub in the town.
It had been hoped that following a programme of stabilisation works on the building, main street could reopen to vehicular traffic over the weekend.
However, following an examination by a structural engineer hired by the council, the decision was taken not to proceed with the reopening until works were finished.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound, Leitrim County Council say the final works are at an advanced stage of completion and the main street will fully reopen to the public in the coming days.
