The Ireland East Hospital Group (IEHG) has apologised to the family of a Longford woman for a significant delay in publishing a report into her death.
Bryonny Sainsbury was injured in an incident on the 26th of August in 2021 and subsequently passed away days later in Beaumont Hospital.
Bryonny was initially taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar and spent two days there before her transfer to Beaumont Hospital.
Serious failings were identified at the Midlands Hospital in relation to her treatment, with the Coroner's Court issuing a ruling of Medical Misadventure in relation to her death.
Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar and the HSE confirmed a review into Bryonny's treatment would be held and published in the short term.
The family have criticised the Health service for the delays and have branded their engagement as disrespectful.
In a statement to Shannonside FM News, the IEHG says the review is at an advance stage and its completion is a priority.
The Hospital Group say the report will be shared with the family at the earliest possible stage and they will continue to engage directly with family representatives.
Local TD Joe Flaherty says that a meeting between the family and senior Government officials will take place in the coming weeks over Bryonny's case.
