Households in some counties could have to pay more than a thousand euro to have a fire put out.
According to the Irish Examiner, Insurance Ireland says call-outs are only covered where there's damage to property that's insured.
The highest charge in the country was seen in County Westmeath, where a one-hour call-out to a domestic blaze could set homeowners back 1,350 euro .
It costs over 1000 euros if a fire occurs in Cavan or Longford during the night, weekends or at bank holidays.
The Irish Examiner investigation found Cavan, Leitrim and Longford double their rates at these out of hour times. while Roscommon charge 50% more for weekends, night time and Bank holidays.
Monaghan is one of four county councils that offer a free service when battling a house fire.
