Residential property prices in the Shannonside region continued to rise last year according to new figures.
It represents an increase locally, while nationally the growth has slowed down.
New figures from the CSO show house prices rose in the midlands by 15 percent last year compared to 10 percent in 2021.
Meanwhile in the western counties, prices rose by 16 percent compared to almost 9 percent last year.
Increased acceptance of remote working during the pandemic saw property rush to more rural areas, with prices in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon all increasing.
Pat Davitt from the IPAV says with new builds costing more to construct, it's likely those prices will stay high:
"With new properties, you can't see prices going down because the price increases that a lot of them have got are from materials and wages and inflation. You couldn't imagine that happening but if a lot of second hand properties come on the market, yes, you could see property prices there changing alright"
