The Department of Housing has given approval for a new 20 unit development in South Roscommon.
The housing project will consist of 10 two-bedroom homes as well as 10 three bedroom properties and will be located at Monksland.
It's the seventh housing development announced by the Government for the Roscommon/Galway constituency in the last number of months.
Senator Eugene Murphy says the party is continuing to work hard to increase housing stock and ways to solve the current crisis.
''Minister O'Brien contacted me yesterday o inform me that he had given the go ahead to Roscommon County Council to proceed with the construction of 20 houses 10 Two bedroom houses and 10 three bedroom houses in Monksland in Roscommon and it's worth noting that since this Government came in, this is the seventh announcement of a housing development, some turn key admittedly, but some also will be Council development in the Roscommon/Galway division.''
