People in the midlands are being forced to leave their jobs in order for their income to qualify for housing supports.
That's according to Longford Councillor Gerry Warnock who says the income thresholds for accessing Housing for All supports need an urgent review.
Speaking at this months meeting of Longford County Council, The independent Councillor says he's been working with a couple who are just €2,000 over the qualifying income limit of for social housing and the housing assistance payment.
He says that one of the couple have now left their job in order to reduce their income and qualify for the supports.
Previous meetings of Longford County Council have heard claims that the government's recent housing plan is an attack on rural Ireland and the active discrimination of half the country.
