The Health and Safety Authority is investigating an incident which left one person with serious injuries in Castlerea. The incident occurred after a bull escaped the abattoir on Patrick Street and knocked a member of the public down on New Road. A helicopter arrived on scene but an ambulance was there to take the injured person to University Hospital Galway, where they are said to be in a stable condition.
The road was closed for a time but later reopened to the public. In a statement to Shannonside News, the HSA says it's aware of the incident and is making the relevant enquiries.
