Positive news have come from the HSE which has approved staffing proposals for the new MRI unit in Mullingar.
Longford-Westmeath TD Robert Troy announced the decision yesterday.
This will allow the hospital to appoint the required staff to bring the MRI service to use for patients.
The MRI scanner has been a long-awaited and much-needed facility, which was largely funded by the charity, Friends of Regional Hospital Mullingar.
